Micropigmentation

Brow Microblading

Eyebrow micropigmentation, also known as cosmetic tattooing or permanent makeup, is a technique where natural-looking pigments are implanted into the skin to enhance and shape the eyebrows. The result mimics the appearance of natural hair strokes or makeup providing a polished, low-maintenance look. Depending on your skin type, lifestyle and aesthetic desire we will determine whether Microblading, Powder brows, Nano or Combo brows will best suit you.

The Experience

The Brow Microblading experience begins with an in-depth consultation where we discuss your ideal brow shape, color, and style. Our skilled artist will then map out the perfect brow design to suit your facial features.

After your brow design is finalized, a numbing gel is applied for your comfort. Using a fine, specialized blade, we gently deposit pigment into the skin to create natural-looking hair strokes. This semi-permanent technique enhances your brows, giving them a fuller, more defined appearance.

The treatment is carefully tailored to you, and after the session, you'll leave with beautifully sculpted brows that last 1-3 years, saving you time each day on your brow routine.

Step 1

Consultation & Design

A thorough consultation will determine your goals, skin type, lifestyle and medical history.

The artist designs and maps out the desired shape by pencil using the natural brow hairs and bone structure to ensure symmetry and client approval.

Color selection is based on the client’s skin tone, undertones, and natural hair color.

Step 2

Preparation & Numbing

The area is cleansed and prepped. Depending on the procedure, numbing cream may be applied at this point or after the first pass of pigment implantation.

Step 3

Pigment Implantation

Using a digital machine or manual hand tool, the pigment is deposited into the upper dermis.

The artist makes controlled, precise strokes or shading, layering pigment for a natural effect.

The procedure can take 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the area and technique used.

Step 4

Healing & Aftercare

Initially, the color appears darker but softens as it heals over the first 7-10 days.

Some scabbing and flaking are normal - you must not scratch or pick, as it will affect pigment retention.

You will be sent home with brow wash, ointment and aftercare instructions to follow.

Step 5

Touch-Up Session (4-8 Weeks Later) - this is included with your treatment

A follow-up is necessary to perfect the shape, fill in any faded spots, and ensure long-lasting results.

Types of Brows

The differences between Powder Brows, Combo Brows, and Nano Brows come down to technique, appearance, and longevity. Here’s a breakdown of each:

1. Powder Brows (Ombre Brows)

Technique: Uses a machine to create a soft, pixelated shading effect, mimicking the look of filled-in makeup.

Appearance: Soft and powdery, with a gradient effect; darker at the tail and lighter at the front.

Best For: Clients with oily or mature skin, or those who prefer a more defined, filled-in look.

Longevity: Lasts 2-3 years with proper touch-ups.

2. Combo Brows (Hybrid Brows)

Technique: A mix of microblading (hair strokes with a hand tool) and powder shading.

Appearance: Natural hair strokes in the front for a soft start, transitioning to shading in the middle and tail for depth and definition.

Best For: Those who want a balance between a natural and defined look; suitable for most skin types.

Longevity: Lasts 2-3 years, depending on skin type and lifestyle.

3. Nano Brows

Technique: Uses a fine-tipped machine needle to create ultra-thin, precise hair strokes that mimic natural brow hairs.

Appearance: More natural than microblading because the strokes are crisp, soft, and blend seamlessly with existing hair.

Best For: Ideal for all skin types, including oily skin (unlike microblading, which can blur on oily skin).

Longevity: Lasts 2-3 years with touch-ups, often longer than microblading due to deeper pigment implantation.

Step 1

Four Weeks & Two Weeks Before Your Appointment

Proper preparation is key to achieving the best results. Please follow these guidelines leading up to your appointment to ensure the best results.

Four Weeks Before Your Appointment

Avoid Acne Treatments: Skincare products with active acne-fighting ingredients can thin and oversensitize the skin.

No Chemical Peels or Lasers: Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or any intense skin resurfacing procedures. These can affect how the pigment heals.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun: Do not come in with a sunburn- pigment won’t retain properly.

Avoid Certain Skincare Ingredients: Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) like lactic, glycolic, citric, retinoid, and tartaric acids, as well as over-the-counter tone-correcting and anti-aging creams, can cause premature fading. If you use these regularly, expect to need more touch-ups.

Two Weeks Before Your Appointment

No Botox Treatments: If you get Botox, schedule it before your brow appointment, but allow at least two weeks between the two treatments. No Botox two weeks before or after your procedure.

No Waxing, Tweezing, or Threading: Let your natural brows grow out- we will shape them during your session.

Skip Brow Tinting: Tinted brows can affect pigment selection, so avoid tinting before your procedure.

Step 2

48 Hours Before Your Appointment

Antibiotics & Healing: If you’re currently taking antibiotics, be aware that they may slow down the healing process, which typically takes about two weeks but may take longer.

Check for Skin Irritation: If you have irritation, active breakouts, or a blemish in the brow area, you may need to reschedule.

Feeling Sick? Reschedule: If you have flu-like symptoms, sinus issues, or a respiratory infection, it’s best to wait until you’re fully recovered.

Avoid Alcohol: Alcohol thins the blood and can lead to uneven healing and poor pigment retention.

Step 3

24 Hours Before Your Appointment

No Caffeine or Alcohol: Both can increase sensitivity and blood flow, which may affect healing.

Avoid Blood Thinners: Aspirin and other blood-thinning medications can cause excessive bleeding, leading to patchy results.

Skip Your Workout: Strenuous exercise increases blood circulation, which can interfere with pigment retention.

Avoid Stimulants: Thermogenic supplements and anything that raises blood pressure should be avoided.

Be Mindful of Your Menstrual Cycle: If you’re on or expecting your period, you may experience heightened sensitivity.

Come With Your Everyday Brow Look: Arrive with your brows done how you normally wear them so we can get a better idea of your preferences.

Step 1

The First 12 Hours (Day of Treatment)

Do not get the brows wet or endure any strenuous activity that will result in sweating.

Immediately following your appointment - lightly blot the brows with a clean tissue to absorb any excess lymph fluid (a clear liquid that may appear on the skin).

Not everyone experiences lymph fluid buildup, but if you do, it’s important to remove it frequently to prevent it from drying into a crust. If the fluid dries and hardens, it may pull out pigment when it flakes off, leading to uneven healing.

Continue blotting every few minutes until the fluid stops secreting.

Step 2

Cleansing Routine (Days 1-10)

Wash your brows twice daily (morning and night) to remove bacteria and prevent buildup.

Use a gentle foaming cleanser and avoid harsh scrubbing.

Wash outside of the shower to prevent excessive water exposure.

Use circular motions, following the natural direction of hair growth.

Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water (not hot).

Step 3

Moisturizing (Days 1-10)

Let brows air dry for at least 5 minutes or blot with a clean tissue before applying any ointment. Brows must be completely dry before moisturizing.

Apply a very thin layer of the recommended ointment using a Q-tip, never use your fingers.

The ointment should be lightly absorbed without leaving a shiny or greasy layer. The goal is to keep the brows hydrated, not overly coated.

Days 1-3: Initial Darkening & Sensitivity

Brows will appear darker, thicker, and more defined due to pigment oxidation.

Some tenderness, redness, and a waxy feeling are normal. It may feel like a mild sunburn.

Brows may darken up to 50-60% before gradually softening.

Days 4-14: Flaking & Lightening

Brows will flake and appear patchy or as if the pigment has disappeared in spots - this is normal. Do not pick at the scabs!

Once peeling is complete, brows will look much lighter before pigment resurfaces.

Final color takes 30 days to fully develop.

Oily skin may heal with a softer, powdery look, and those who bleed easily may need extra touch-ups.

Days 15-30: Color Returns & Softening

Brows will regain color and definition, appearing more natural.

You can resume swimming but must protect brows with SPF 50+ to prevent fading or discoloration.

Some areas may heal lighter or uneven, which is why a touch-up at 4-6 weeks is recommended.

Micropigmentation FAQs

Permanent eyebrow makeup, often called microblading, nanobrows, microshading, or powder brows, is a cosmetic tattooing technique used to enhance or reshape eyebrows. The technique involves implanting pigment into the skin using fine needles or a blade, creating a semi-permanent look.

Permanent eyebrow makeup typically lasts 1 to 3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin may cause pigment to fade faster, while proper aftercare can extend the longevity.

Microblading: Uses a blade to create hair-like strokes, giving a natural, defined look.
Nanobrows: Uses a machine to create hair-like strokes.
Microshading: Involves tiny dots or shading to achieve a fuller, softer look.
Powder Brows (or ombré brows): Creates a powdered, filled-in appearance, similar to using brow makeup.

Most technicians use a numbing cream to minimize discomfort. While pain tolerance varies, many clients describe it as similar to eyebrow threading or plucking.

Avoid getting the area wet, excessive sweating, and direct sun exposure for the first week. Apply the recommended aftercare products to ensure proper healing. Your technician will provide specific instructions.

Initial healing takes around 7-14 days, during which the brows may scab and appear darker. Complete healing, including color stabilization, can take up to 4-6 weeks.

Yes, with a skilled technician, the result should look natural. Techniques like microblading create realistic hair strokes, while microshading and powder brows offer soft, natural-looking shading.

Your technician will analyze your facial structure and skin tone to recommend a shape and color that complements your natural features. It’s essential to communicate your preferences and desired look.

Risks include potential allergic reactions, infections, or dissatisfaction with the result if not done by a qualified technician. Ensure you go to a licensed professional who follows strict hygiene standards.

Yes, once the area is fully healed. Most clients find they don’t need additional makeup. You can enhance your brows further with makeup if you desire a more dramatic look for special occasions.
